Kunming
My first stop is in Kunming, the major plan for today is visiting the Stone Forest.

It was a really beautiful sight, but the place itself felt way too touristy for me. There’s just way too many people, and this is during the off season!

The rest of the day was very disappointing, it tends to happen when you’re with a Chinese tour, they always seem to take you to places to buy things, like jade, tea or makeup. This is just another reminder to myself not to do tour bus tours.
A few observations I’ve made so far…
Photography: Like in Canada, there a lot of DSLR users now, Canon outnumbers Nikon 4:1, mostly DSLRs or point & shoots, I haven’t seen many bridge or mirrorless SLRs (ie. micro 4/3rds)
Fashion: There’s so many people wearing fake brands, it’s pretty fun trying to spot the Engrish names for them all. I’ve seen a few Adidop, gastr raw, fstar and naik.
At the end of the day, a few of us were dropped off at the train station, heading to Dali. The train ride to Dali is from 10:53pm to 5:18am, so we were in a sleeper car, my first time in one! I’ll write about how the trip went tomorrow.
